Habitat Regeneration are pleased to be assisting Forestry England in delivering 10 badger gates across their woodland creation scheme near Lenham, ensuring continued movement across their foraging areas.
The main planting areas were rabbit fenced to reduce the need for tree guards across large proportions of the site, although the installation of these gates ensure that badgers can still maintain their normal territories.
The need to account for connected and biodiverse habitats is critical when delivering any woodland creation scheme and this needs to be considered carefully as schemes like this continue to be rolled out in years to come.
We’re excited to see how this project progresses over time, delivering both carbon sequestration and vital habitat creation
