Creating wildlife corridors through strategic hedgerow planting
Project Overview
Habitat Regeneration recently partnered with The Crown Estate to help them fulfil their commitment to nature and sustainable land use. As part of a wider environmental strategy, we planted over 4 kilometres of mixed native hedgerows on Romney Marsh to improve natural habitats and restore landscape features.
Our Approach
Working closely with The Crown Estate, their farming tenants, and Savills agents, we delivered a tailored planting programme to establish thriving, diverse hedgerows. The species combination was carefully selected to maximise biodiversity, provide food and shelter for native wildlife, and complement the surrounding landscape.
Environmental Impact
The new hedgerows act as vital wildlife corridors, supporting pollinators, birds, and small mammals while contributing to carbon capture and soil stabilisation. This work strengthens ecological connectivity across the estate and plays a key role in sustainable land stewardship.
Supporting Sustainable Goals
This initiative is part of The Crown Estate’s broader sustainability strategy that will enhance environmental value throughout its property portfolio. By incorporating regenerative practices such as hedgerow planting, the estate is taking significant steps to support long-term biodiversity and climate resilience.
